Rainbow Six Siege is a tactical team-based shooter game based on the novels by Tom Clancy. The game was released by Ubisoft in 2015 for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Two teams of five players attack or defend an area. Depending on the mode, players have different objectives such as rescuing a hostage, defusing a bomb, taking control of a capture point or hunting down terrorists. There is a heavy emphasis on environmental destruction and team cooperation. Players break structures by planting bombs or shooting at them. In 2019, Rainbow Six received the Best Ongoing Game award at The Game Awards 2019 in Los Angeles. The game is often favourably compared to Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and in New Zealand has an R16 rating for violence and obscene language.
